A Day in the Life of an Interior Designer: Behind-the-Scenes of a Creative Career
Behind the Scenes: From Coffee to Crown Molding
Ever wondered what it’s like to be an interior designer? From selecting the perfect light fixtures to reviewing architectural details, no two days are ever the same. Designing beautiful spaces is more than just picking out pretty fabrics—it’s a blend of creativity, logistics, and problem-solving.
My day often starts with a quiet moment—coffee in hand, flipping through The Daily Stoic, and reviewing my agenda. Then, it’s straight into emails and checking in on current projects. Mornings are perfect for deep creative work, whether it’s redlining renderings, selecting materials, or researching design details like crown molding styles.
Afternoons are often spent out of the office, meeting with clients, visiting showrooms, or checking in on-site. Seeing designs come to life in real spaces is one of the most rewarding parts of the job! Whether I’m reviewing finishes, making adjustments, or ensuring every detail aligns with the vision, site visits are where the magic starts to happen.
Of course, the business side of design is just as important. Updating blog posts, marking up plans, and hopping on Zoom calls with clients or vendors keep projects moving smoothly.
By the end of the day, closing my laptop and stacking up my journals feels like a small victory—another day of bringing beautiful spaces to life!
