Curating Unique Decor

Finding the Perfect Piece: Curating Unique Decor for Our Modern Industrial Project

If you’ve ever struggled to find that perfect piece to complete your space, I’ve got a surprise for you! As part of our latest Modern Industrial project, I set out on a treasure hunt through some of the best antique shops in Atlanta and Chattanooga. The result? A curated collection of one-of-a-kind gems that bring character, warmth, and a touch of history to our design.

When it comes to curating decor, our goal is always to strike the perfect balance between style and functionality. We love mixing the old with the new—blending antique finds with sleek modern elements to create spaces that feel both timeless and fresh. In this particular project, we combined industrial interior design with vintage treasures to craft a space that feels personal, unique, and full of character.

The Search for the Perfect Pieces

Finding just the right elements for any design takes patience, creativity, and a bit of luck. That’s why I love shopping at local antique shops, where each piece tells a story and adds something special to the space. Here’s a peek into some of my favorite stops during this recent sourcing trip:

1. Marietta Antique Mall (Marietta, GA)

Located minutes from downtown Marietta, this antique mall is a true gem. The shop is packed with vintage finds that span a wide range of styles and periods. Whether you're looking for rustic furniture, industrial lighting, or quirky decor, Marietta Antique Mall has something for every taste. For this Modern Industrial project, I found some incredible vintage candelabras that perfectly blend the industrial aesthetic with a touch of nostalgic charm. These pieces will not only add accent lighting but also serve as stylish focal points within the space.

2. Antiques on the Square (Marietta Square, GA)

Located in the heart of Marietta Square, Antiques on the Square offers a beautifully curated selection of antiques that speak to a variety of design tastes. Here, I stumbled upon a stunning vintage cameras and radios that immediately caught my eye. The rich, worn-in materials gives it a timeless feel, while the sleek lines of its design perfectly complement the modern industrial vibe we’re going for. This piece will definitely add a sense of sophistication and character to the project.

3. The Refindery (Chattanooga, TN)

A must-visit for anyone looking to mix modern design with vintage flair, The Refindery in Chattanooga was another stop on our antique tour. Known for its high-quality, handpicked pieces, this shop offers a fantastic selection of repurposed furniture and unique decor that embodies both style and sustainability. I found amazing chandeliers here that’s the perfect mix of old-world charm and industrial edge. The sleek modern materials paired with the weathered metal accents make these the perfect ceiling accents for our project. They are both functional and full of character—exactly what we wanted.

Mixing Modern with Vintage

What makes this blend of antiques and modern design so special is that it tells a story. Each piece has its own history, adding depth and character to the space. Incorporating antiques into a modern industrial setting creates a juxtaposition that feels effortlessly chic. The industrial elements—think metal and concrete—are softened by the warmth and texture of vintage finds like wood, leather, and glass.

The beauty of sourcing antiques is that it not only adds personality and warmth to a space but also helps support local businesses. It’s a way to infuse your design with authenticity while also creating a space that feels like home.

Which Piece is Your Favorite?

As the design for our Modern Industrial project comes together, I’m excited to see how these antique finds will play a role in shaping the final look. From vintage candelabras to worn-in cameras, each piece is handpicked to elevate the design while serving a functional purpose.

Which piece do you think stands out the most? Let me know! Whether you’re a fan of rustic metal or timeless leather, blending old and new is the perfect way to make your space feel both unique and stylish. Keep an eye out for the finished project—it’s going to be a stunning fusion of modern industrial and vintage charm!
