Who’s ready for a branding glow-up?
We’re thrilled to reveal Gothic Poet, a custom brand created for the talented emerging writer, August King. This project was all about channeling mood, mystery, and elegance into a visual identity that truly feels like a story waiting to be told.
From the first conversation, we knew August had a unique voice — one that we wanted to bring to life visually. Inspired by poetic storytelling, gothic literature, and modern minimalism, this brand is rich in emotion and designed to captivate.
Designing the Gothic Poet Brand
We kicked off the project by diving deep into August’s creative world — their audience, their goals, and the tone of their writing. The result? A moody-meets-modern brand that feels both romantic and a little rebellious.
Primary Logo: Featuring a flowing signature-style typeface and quill icon, the main logo evokes a handwritten manuscript — personal and poetic.
Secondary Logo + Submark: A more structured serif combination and a sleek monogram (AK) give flexibility and polish across platforms.
Iconography & Patterns: Custom illustrations — bats, roses, candles, coffins — set the tone for Gothic Poet’s darker aesthetic. These brand elements aren’t just visuals — they tell stories on their own.
Bringing It to Life Online
Branding doesn’t stop at a logo. For August’s digital presence, we created a custom Lightroom preset to ensure cohesive, moody tones across their social media.
We also guided the styling of August’s Instagram feed — complete with consistent highlight icons and a visual direction that aligns perfectly with the Gothic Poet identity. Every post now feels intentional, atmospheric, and unmistakably them.
