A Perfect Blend of Structure and Casual Charm

Introducing CONFAB: A New Restaurant Brand Designed by AMD

Anne Mason Design (AMD) is thrilled to share one of our latest branding projects: the creation of a unique and vibrant brand identity for CONFAB, a new restaurant located on the upper east side of Atlanta, GA. Drawing inspiration from the dining culture of Europe, CONFAB is designed to be a casual yet upscale gathering spot where guests can eat, drink, and engage in lively conversation. The name “confab” itself, meaning “familiar talk or conversation,” perfectly encapsulates the essence of this inviting space, and our design reflects that spirit in every element of the brand.

The Logo: A Perfect Blend of Structure and Casual Charm

When designing the logo for CONFAB, AMD wanted to ensure that it not only captured the essence of the restaurant’s name but also mirrored the interior design and atmosphere of the space. The result is a logo with three individual and scalable options: the primary logo, the secondary logo, and the submark logo.

The Primary Logo serves as the main graphic representation of the brand, used most frequently across a variety of materials and platforms. It combines European-inspired typography with both structured lines and casual, approachable curves. The underlined vowels in the word “confab” emphasize the pronunciation, giving the logo an interactive element that invites curiosity. The font choice strikes the perfect balance between sophistication and ease, making it both eye-catching and inviting for potential guests.

The Secondary Logo is a simplified version of the primary, providing flexibility when the full logo isn’t practical for certain applications. It retains the key elements of the primary logo’s structure, ensuring consistency in visual identity while accommodating different uses.

The Submark Logo further simplifies the branding, focusing on graphical elements and icons that symbolize the brand without text. This version allows CONFAB to use a minimalist visual in spaces where a full logo may be too complex, offering versatility across all touchpoints.

The Color Scheme: A Nod to European Flair

In developing the color palette for CONFAB, AMD drew inspiration from the whimsical and saturated color schemes of Wes Anderson’s films, which the client specifically requested. The goal was to blend these lively hues with the restaurant’s interior materials, creating a vibrant yet harmonious aesthetic.

We selected two grounding neutrals—Mushroom and Black Pepper—to provide a sophisticated base. These earthy tones set the stage for the more vibrant accents that follow. The addition of cool tones like Ocean Water and Curacao, paired with warm accents such as Mustard and Pomelo, creates a visually contrasting and exciting palette that feels both fresh and inviting. This combination provides flexibility for the restaurant to use these colors throughout the brand identity, from menus to signage, and even interior décor, maintaining visual interest at every turn.

A Brand for the People

At the core of the CONFAB brand is a focus on connection—bringing people together for great food and great conversation. The logo, color scheme, and design elements all work in harmony to communicate this message, ensuring that guests feel welcomed the moment they walk through the door. We are excited to see how this vibrant brand identity will continue to evolve as CONFAB welcomes guests and becomes a staple in the Atlanta dining scene.

Stay tuned for more updates as we watch this exciting project unfold and make its mark on the community!
