When an empty-nester couple approached us to reimagine their child’s former bedroom, they envisioned a guest retreat that reflected their love for Charleston, SC, and its iconic colonial charm. Inspired by the historic architecture and romantic ambiance of the city, we crafted a space that balances timeless elegance with warm hospitality. The Charleston Room celebrates the couple’s personal journey while honoring the rich design traditions of the lowcountry.
To evoke Charleston’s storied past, we incorporated classic hardwood floors, intricate decorative mouldings, and historic-style furniture that ground the space in a sense of heritage. Soft floral fabrics, sourced from Tarpley, Thompson & Co, and the Mokum Papillon wallpaper bring a delicate, feminine touch, tying the room together with their muted palette of blush, cream, and earthy neutrals. Rich, dark wood accents and tailored upholstery add depth and structure, ensuring the space feels formal yet welcoming.
At the heart of the design are thoughtful, curated details like Colonial Williamsburg-inspired sconces and Braganza Blue ceramics, which add layers of authenticity and character. These elements, combined with our meticulous styling, create a cohesive and immersive narrative. The Charleston Room is more than a guest retreat—it’s a portal to the past, seamlessly blending history, elegance, and the couple’s personal love for timeless design. Whether hosting visitors or enjoying quiet moments themselves, the homeowners now have a space that feels both sophisticated and deeply personal.
